Moving to Lost Creek: What We Gained When the Plan Changed

Not every move is planned. Ours definitely wasn’t.

We thought we had it all mapped out: living in our forever home in Bouldin Creek, walking to our 9 to 5s with PTO and a 401k, raising our kids close to downtown Austin, and trusting that our neighborhood schools would eventually offer the support our family needed.

But as our kids grew, it became clear they needed more than what was available. We stayed hopeful, thinking time and resources would catch up. When the gap started to get too big to fix with private tutoring, we knew we had to pivot.

Leaving Bouldin Creek wasn’t easy. It meant stepping away from everything we thought we’d build our life around -- our lifestyle, our friends who became family, our view.

Moving to Lost Creek: A Pivot We Didn’t See Coming

We moved to Lost Creek for the Eanes ISD schools, the sense of community, and the space to breathe. What we didn’t expect was that both of us would get laid off within a week of landing in our new home.

It was the kind of moment that makes you stop in your tracks. But instead of unraveling, we regrouped. That unexpected turn became the start of something new: Talk Real Estate Group.

What We Found in Lost Creek

We traded walkability for greenbelts, peace, and one of the Eanes ISD neighborhoods where people still stop to talk on the sidewalk. The transition was tough, especially for our kids, who missed their friends and the familiar rhythm of their old neighborhood. But they’re thriving now. Even they say they understand why we did what we did.

Most importantly, we found the kind of support in Eanes ISD we’d been searching for all along. It was a public school community that truly saw our kids and, thanks in large part to the Eanes Education Foundation, had the resources to meet them where they were.

Why We Started Talk Real Estate Group

Starting a business during a life shift is no small thing. It took work, humility, and a lot of trust. Talk Real Estate Group was born from our own lived experience, because we know we’re not the only ones who’ve had to make big decisions without a clear roadmap.

As we’ve grown, we’ve found ourselves helping clients explore real estate opportunities in Bastrop, New Braunfels, Cedar Park, Dripping Springs, and beyond -- not just in Austin. Sometimes it’s about more space, different schools, new business ventures, or long-term investments. But most often, it’s about people navigating change, just like we did.

We bring more than market knowledge. We bring perspective, because we’ve been there too.

Real Estate Isn’t Just About Houses

It’s about seasons of life. It’s about letting go of what you thought was forever and making space for something new, maybe even better or just different.

So whether you’re thinking about a move, exploring new schools, or just curious about what the Austin real estate market looks like right now, we’re here.

No pressure. No pitch. Just real conversations with real people who have lived it.
